Our Approach

Holistic Development Our program is designed to help students excel both on and off the mat. We use wrestling as a tool to engage students, encouraging them to develop discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. Simultaneously, our customized academic support ensures each student receives the help they need to succeed in school.

Our Program Structure: Wrestling After School

At Beat the Streets Baltimore, our wrestling program is thoughtfully structured to provide comprehensive support and opportunities for both girls and boys. Our after-school program is designed to foster athletic skills, academic achievement, and personal development.

After-School Team for Both Girls and Boys

We proudly offer an inclusive wrestling program that caters to both girls and boys. Our teams practice together, fostering a sense of unity and teamwork while also ensuring that each athlete receives the attention and coaching they need to succeed.

Practice Schedule

  • Three Days per Week: Our student-athletes participate in rigorous practice sessions three days per week. These practices are designed to develop their wrestling skills, physical fitness, and mental toughness.
  • Skill Development: Each practice focuses on different aspects of wrestling, including technique, strategy, conditioning, and mental preparation.

Intra-City Competition Dual Meet Schedule

  • Competitive Environment: To provide our athletes with valuable competition experience, we organize an intra-city competition dual meet schedule. These meets offer a platform for our wrestlers to test their skills against peers from different parts of the city.
  • Regular Matches: The dual meets are held regularly, ensuring that our student-athletes have ample opportunities to compete and improve.

Travel Competition Schedule

  • Travel Competitions: In addition to intra-city competitions, our teams also participate in travel competitions. These events expose our wrestlers to a broader range of opponents and different wrestling styles.
  • Team Bonding: Traveling together strengthens team bonds and provides our athletes with memorable experiences that extend beyond the wrestling mat.

Weekend Tournaments

About the Program

Beat the Streets (BTS) organizes year around wrestling programs to improve the life trajectories of Baltimore City student-athletes through the skills acquired by participating in amateur wrestling. We believe wrestling fosters an uncommon combination of character traits leading to enhanced social and personal development, and ultimately, better life outcomes in the youth we serve.
