One of the best things a father can do with his so One of the best things a father can do with his son is wrestle.

Not just the sport—but everything that comes with it.

The early morning road trips when it’s still dark outside. Gas station breakfasts. Quiet conversations before weigh-ins. Long drives home where nobody says much, because the work already spoke. Those moments build something real.

Wrestling teaches a son how to lose without breaking and how to win without showing off. There’s no hiding on the mat. No excuses. Just effort, discipline, and accountability. You learn fast that the work doesn’t lie—and that how you respond matters more than the result.

For a father and son, that process creates trust. It teaches patience, resilience, and respect. It shows a young man how to stay calm under pressure, how to handle adversity, and how to keep moving forward when things don’t go his way.

Win or lose, the lesson stays the same: show up, do the work, and keep going. Never quit, fight some more, victory is insight.

Those early mornings turn into memories. Those losses turn into perspective. And those wins? They’re shared—because you were there the whole time.

That’s bigger than a sport. That’s legacy. - @michaelconner979
Proud moment watching our work come to maturity. Proud moment watching our work come to maturity.

At Waverly, we’re now fully into the intervention phase using data to place students where they need to be, delivering targeted academic support, and demanding consistency both in the classroom and on the mat. It’s structured, intentional, and built to move students forward.

Over the next 14 weeks, our student-athletes will train and grow through a demanding schedule:
multiple tournaments, five days a week of academics and wrestling, and daily expectations that push them to be better students, better teammates, and better people. Build habits young that they’ll appreciate as adults.
Cherry Hill Wrestling had a strong practice today. Cherry Hill Wrestling had a strong practice today.

Appreciation to Coach Garrett and Coach Hunter for running a focused session and keeping the team locked in. We were also joined by Board Member Gene Curran, Baltimore’s first national wrestling champion, who wrestled for Archbishop Curley and Cornell University. Good to have that level of experience and history in the room.
