We are excited to share that our Executive Directo

We are excited to share that our Executive Director, Lydell Henry, will be appearing on WEAA 88.9FM Radio for a special segment of “Inside Morgan Sports.” Lydell will be joining Morgan State University Head Wrestling Coach Kenny Monday and Morgan Alum Johnny Jackson. This event will air on Wednesday, June 12th, from 6pm to 7pm.

Lydell Henry, who leads the Beat the Streets Wrestling Program, has been instrumental in using wrestling as a tool to empower youth in Baltimore. His leadership has ensured that the program not only excels in sports but also prioritizes academic success and personal growth for all its participants.

Joining him will be Kenny Monday, the esteemed Head Wrestling Coach at Morgan State University, the first Black Gold Medalist in the 1988 Olympics and Johnny Jackson, a former MSU wrestler. Together, they will discuss the intersection of sports and community development, shedding light on the vital role sports play in shaping the lives of young athletes.

We are excited to announce that Beat the Streets B

We are excited to announce that Beat the Streets Baltimore will be attending the National Duals at Boston University from June 25th to June 28th, 2024! In less than three weeks, we are taking 40 youth wrestlers in grades 7-12 from the Baltimore area to join over 400 student-athletes from across the country for an unforgettable experience of wrestling, learning, and growth.

Not only will our wrestlers receive top-tier coaching and participate in competitive dual matches, but they will also walk the historic grounds where the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. earned his doctorate. This is more than just a tournament; it’s a chance to be inspired by the legacy of one of history’s most influential leaders.

Stay tuned for updates as our wrestlers embark on this incredible journey! Together, we rise.

The excitement is palpable as high school wrestlers from Baltimore prepare to compete in the NHSCA National Duals, set to take place from May 24-27, 2024, in Virginia Beach, VA. This prestigious event, organized by the National High School Coaches Association (@nhsca ), brings together 208 teams from across the country, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents on a national stage.

Event Overview

The NHSCA National Duals is one of the most anticipated wrestling tournaments in the high school circuit. It features a dual meet format where teams compete in various weight classes, ensuring a comprehensive and competitive experience. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of five matches, spread over the four-day event, which includes pool play and championship brackets.
