ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Purpose of BTS National Camp and Duals

The Beat the Streets National Duals is a unique opportunity for teams from Beat the Streets cities across the US to come together for four days of freestyle wrestling and fellowship. Over 300 student-athletes in grades seven through twelve will convene in Chicago for technique camp, enrichment and sightseeing – all culminating in the National Duals Tournament. We expect this to be a transformational experience for our wrestlers.

Camp Dates: Monday, June 26, 2023 to Wednesday, June 28, 2023
National Duals Date: June 29, 2023
Confirmed Cities: Chicago (Host), NYC, Philly, LA, NE, Cleveland, Baltimore, D.C., Lancaster

The BTS National Duals is a USA Wrestling-sanctioned event.

Style: Freestyle wrestling duals. Dual meet format similar to USAW National Duals.
Weight Classes: Using USA Wrestling 16U Boys and 16U Girls weight classes.

  • Girls: 94, 100, 106, 112, 117, 122, 127, 132, 138, 144, 152, 164, 180, 200, 225
  • Boys: 88, 94, 100, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285

Eligibility: All youth participants must have an active USA Wrestling Athlete Membership. All coaches must have active USA Wrestling Leader (coach) Membership and have completed the USA Wrestling Coach Bronze Certification.

Weight allowance: No weight allowance

Weigh-ins: Wednesday, the day before the competition, and after the morning practice session.
Weigh-in Procedures and Guidelines: Beat the Streets Los Angeles Leadership team will manage an organized weigh-in.

The itinerary is still being finalized and is subject to change.

Wrestling on Monday and Tuesday will end early so that we have ample time for activities. We are working on tickets to the Cubs game and will have a really cool Tuesday afternoon event with Diversity Org.

  • On Wednesday, we will do a Greco workout on the beach and have mock matches in the

  • Return to Baltimore, MD
    o Leave at 10:30 am
    o Arrival at 10:00 pm

Beat the Streets Baltimore has organized (3) passenger vehicles for the trip. The commute will be approximately 11-12 hours and each driver will have ample rest and an alternate drive will be assigned.

Our supplier, Gear2Compete, will be providing each wrestler with a team uniform that includes singlet, t-shirts, and shoe sizes. Please submit your equipment sizes by 5/18/2023.

We raised money to cover expenses. The cost per participant is $25.00 and spending money for extra food or souvenirs.

Community Programs

We offer a full range of Education and Community Engagement programs.
BTS-Bmore is dedicated to providing resources for their coaches.

As the coach you set the tone for the BTS student-athletes. And in order for you to do the work that is required to shape the minds of the student-athletes proper tools are needed. Below are links to resources. We will continue to add to the resources available.

Leadership Skills

We identify the children’s interests and encourage their participation in group activities. Participating in sports or community activity teaches valuable lessons about teamwork and commitment.

After School Programs

Kids achieve more, productivity goes up, and risky behaviors go down. BTS offers after-school programs in Baltimore to keep kids safe, boost student success.

SUMMER CAMP

Beat the Streets – Baltimore (BTS) has developed summer camp opportunities that continue to utilize the sport of wrestling as a hook to develop students’ personal, academic, and social skills, while also incorporating relevant, 21st Century financial knowledge and skills through engaging, cutting edge learning experiences.

Mental Health Mentoring

Mentoring can provide easy access to supportive relationships with caring adults when they are in need. They also may provide a positive relationship that could act as a corrective emotional experience.

Tutoring

We are dedicated to providing our students with supplemental tutoring services so that they can catch up to grade level in both math and English language arts.
We provide a range of study support services, including a dedicated Personal Tutor, extensive online resources and supportive staff who can help the children gain the skills they need to need to do well in the classroom. Our support services is one of the reasons that our students thrive.

The mission of BTS is to provide disadvantaged youth with a positive environment that nurtures physical and mental development through wrestling, mentoring, and tutoring programs. Our goal has been to develop a network of BTS program sites throughout the Baltimore area’s underserved communities.
